- The Basic Building Block: The MBS-2® Anti-Lock Brake System
The new Wabash National MBS-2® brake system forms the basis for the Smart Trailer™ suite. This next-generation ABS system stands alone with industry-leading innovative design.

FULL COMMUNICATION WITH TRACTOR
The MBS-2® control module communicates with the tractor via the industry-standard PLC4TRUCKS protocol. ABS warning light in the cab is automatically controlled by the MBS-2® module.

INTELLIGENT MBS-2® MODULE STORES CRITICAL TRAILER DATA ELECTRONICALLY
Important information such as VIN, Unit Number, and current trailer mileage, are store din the MBS-2® module, available for easy access. Soon, additional data such as a complete listing of the trailer's parts will be added.

NEW ACTIVE SPEED SENSOR IN HUB
A maintenance breakthrough! New design speed sensor eliminates troublesome tone rings. No more ABS malfunction due to the sensor backing out of its mount and losing contact with the tone ring, the most frequent cause of ABS failure. The sensor is contained in a controlled environment, yet is easily accessible through the hubcap.

ELECTRIC ODOMETER STANDARD
MBS-2® tracks tire revolutions, providing highly accurate mileage data for maintenance, tracking purposes.

Optional Features:
An exciting array of new Smart Trailer features are available as options, supported by the MBS-2® brake system. These features offer major advances in motor carrier safety and efficiency.

TRAILER BACK-UP LIGHT & WARNING HORN SYSTEM
Automatically actuated by rearward rotation of the trailer wheels, the automatic backup light provides bright illumination to the trailer rear, greatly easing the driver's task at night and alerting bystander to the backing trailer. Automatic backup horn provides an audio alert, providing an additional factor of safety. Backup lights/horn are available as a package or separately.

OVERHEATED WHEEL END DETECTION SYSTEM
Monitors bearing temperature on all wheels (4S/1M MBS-2® system recommended for all dual axle trailers). Automatically alerts driver of an overheating bearing through Trailer Mounted Status Light or to tractor display via PLC4TRUCKS communication. Provides warning of unsafe condition before catastrophic failure occurs.

TRAILER MOUNTED STATUS LIGHT
Easily visible in the driver's rearview mirror, the trailer mounted status light provides continuous feedback to the drive on trailer status:

Green - All Systems OK
Yellow - Minor Trailer Fault (ABS Malfunction)
Red - Major Fault, Stop Immediately! (Overheated Wheel End)
Also functions as a maintenance display with blink code output for easy trailer diagnostics.
