Better Quality, More Control
The Wabash/Fruehauf® WP Axle combines the superior performance of the large TP-style bearing with a time-tested catellated single-nut attachment system in place of the double-nut/lock washer system. The WP axle is pre-drilled with three holes, permitting precise and predictable pre-load of the bearing at the time of installation. The castellated single-nut attachment system provides simple, precise and consistent installation and permits easy maintenance and quality control. Easy-to-monitor pre-load criteria eliminates unintentional loose installation leading to wheel-wobble and problems common to current double-nut/lock washer systems.

The result:
Consistent, predictable pre-load is achieved at installation and after maintenance.
Elimination of loose wheel-ends leading to premature seal failure, due to backing-off or improper installation of double-nut/lock washer wheel-end attachment systems.

In Other Words, More Trouble-Free Miles

A Proven Performer.
The service-proven castellated single-nut approach has been successfully utilized on thousands of Fruehauf® trailers over many years. Now, utilizing the new installation procedure including pre-load on the bearing, the WP Axle will provide even better performance.

Freedom of Choice.
For reasons of standardization or experience, some customers may prefer to continue with the conventional double-nut/lock washer wheel-end attachment system. These systems are also available on the WP axle.

Relentlessly Driven to Deliver Value.
The new Wabash™/Fruehauf® WP Axle is yet another example of our commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. This innovative offering shows the kind of thinking that keeps Wabash™/Fruehauf® "ahead of the pack".

Matched "P" Spindle Large Bearings for Reduced Maintenance Costs.
The WP axle provides a larger bearing area than the tapered TN axle. This enables the WP bearing to generate less heat and run at lower pressure - especially important for grease-lubricated bearings which tend to run hotter than oil. With tapered bearings, under low lube conditions the outer bearing can be starved for lubrication. The matched pair of WP bearings ensures that both bearings remain bathed in lubrication. Extensive experience by large, hard running fleets demonstrates that trailers equipped with non-tapered axles with large bearings experience fewer bearing problems and fewer road failures. Fleet parts stocking requirements are reduced because now one part is suitable for use as either the outer or the inner bearing.
